Change in location of litter box

If either you have physically moved homes or even just moved the litter box elsewhere in your home, a change in the location of the litter box may cause your cat to pee outside it. Wet Cat Food Advantages – Wet cat food diets are a must for developing strong bones and muscles, while mitigating many potential conditions caused or contributed to by an all-dry cat food diet. It provides sufficient water reducing the chance of bladder inflammation or, in some cases, bladder crystals. Bladder crystals are crystals-like substances that form when their is a change in the acidity level of urine.

Wet cat food has more meat, therefore, high in protein and fatty acids. The components are much similar to a natural carnivore diet; that of a cat’s. This also alleviates the strain on their kidneys and digestive systems.

Wet cat food does have its disadvantages. Though instead of jumping into detailed facts and figures about nutrition, lab testing, and news stories, we thought for the first advice posting, we would stick with the obvious and just scratch the surface.

Dry food is favored by many cat owners for the dental benefits. Many believe it helps to remove some plaque and tarter from their teeth. Dry cat food does have its disadvantages. Cat’s on a dry food diet miss out on extra nutrition found in wet food. Dry food is packed with starch and carb fillers, such as corn and wheat, that can cause diarrhea. In the wild, cats would not pack in so many carbohydrates. As stated above, their diets would consist primarily of fresh meat. Their source of carbs would originate from the stomach fillings of mice and insects.

1. Ignore it. This is the most difficult, though most effective way to stop constant meowing. The meowing tends to get worse before it gets better, but eventually your pet will learn meowing doesn’t work. So do not give in, no matter how awful your cats noises may be.

This does not necessarily work in all cases. For me personally, not because of crying but because my cat will either sit on or in front of whatever I am paying attention to, or will chew it up.

On their own, many cats lose interest playing by themselves. They might go a little nutty over a catnip mouse for a minute or two, but then get bored. You have to get involved! I have about ten different cat toys.

My cat Vivien really loves the little furry mice and most of all, the plastic sticks with feathers on the end. I have to get her one every other month because she rips it to shreds. But I make an effort to play with her everyday, no matter how tired I am. And she never meows, unless she knows some wet cat food is on its way.

3. Maintain a regular schedule. Cats are most definitely creatures of habit and will let you know they are thrown off by changes in their routine. A regular schedule can make for a quiet happy.

4. Distract your cat. Cats often meow because they’re bored. Leaving a few toys around so your cat will have something to play with whenever she’s in the mood is a good idea. As I previously said, it is very important to play with your feline every day, however for those of us who get home late at night, have little ones running around, or have to go on overnight business trips, sometimes we do not have a ton of time to keep our cats entertained.

If that is the case, it is good to leave a few things around the house. In the past, I have duct tapped one of those feather sticks to the table so it was suspended up high, sort of like the balls they put up at the killer whale and dolphin shows at sea world. They tend to play with stuff like that more than random toys lying on the floor.

5. Deter it. If your cat starts meowing beside your pillow, every morning when it is still dark outside, give her a quick blast with a hairdryer or squirt bottle. But have a calm demeanor so they don’t associate you with hostility. Personally, I am not the biggest fan of this technique (but then again I don’t have anything waking me up at 5 in the morning). Maybe trying to do a loud shushing, or yelling “BE QUIET” might be a bit more amicable than resorting to water discipline or scary loud noises. If anything, start lightly and then try the bigger ammunition.
